«Contactless»", is the title of the third SENSE residency of 2019 that took place at the Museum of Art of the Sila Forest from September 20 to 29, 2019. The name of the artist residency could be translated from English as «privo di contatto» , and it was precisely this concept around which the poetic and experimental research on social and environmental themes was carried out by the selected artists from various parts of Italy: Emanuela Lena (Roma), Jacopo Mandich (Roma), Maria Jole Serreli (Sardegna). All three artists work with a variety of techniques and expressive means, but their approaches undeniably share common points, such as an incessant desire to experiment and the use of different materials like iron, wood, glass, metal, as well as recyclable and recovered materials that often take the form of sculptures or participatory installations. During the 'Contactless' residency, the artists focused on the concept of contact and its inevitable loss. 'Contact' in its various manifestations: between man and man, between man and nature, where nature is understood both as an environment and as an individual's inner world. Contactless encompasses a pervasive reflection on the denunciation of detachment and the possible return to nature, sensitivity, instincts, perception, and humanity. Thanks to an internship agreement with the Department of Humanities at the University of Calabria, as with every residency, a young art historian selected by the Unical professor and a member of the scientific committee was present. Leonardo PassarelliThis time, the chosen young critic was Yulia Shchepeleva who was tasked with following and examining the artists' creative process. The residency concluded on Sunday, September 29, 2019, with the presentation of the works created.
